LANGUAGE AS A VEHICLE FOR CULTURAL TRANSMISSION: THE CASE OF IGBO LANGUAGE

Abstract


Language is a means of communication. It enables humans to co-exist as well as helps to preserve information. The culture of a people is a very important aspect of their being. It therefore requires that a people’s culture should be well preserved, as well as handed over to up-coming generations in order to sustain the life and relevance of the people. In so doing, language plays a key role and language itself is culture.
