Have We Thrown Away Resilience?

Abstract

Agony is the syncopated song on our lips,
The drum to which it beats we sway our hips,
Our voices have lost volume!
We shout—hurl—scream,
But no one hears us,
Yes, no one hears us!
Our body; is systematized to work
to the rhythm of their tune!
With their feet;
they have stamped repeatedly on our rights
With their bare hands;
our hope of tomorrow is stifled!
Our dreams — butchered,
distorted beyond recognition,
lying in the abyss of no return!
But are we going to sit and watch ourselves
drown in the pool of shame?
Are we going to let our hope mare?
Are we crawling beneath bridges by force?
Have we thrown away resilience?
Or have we lost ourselves?
