This paper is designed to examine the authentic value of Nigerian t e a c h e r s’ q u ali fi c a ti o n i n a c a d e mi c p e r f o r m a n c e.  T h e i s s u e o f teachers’ qualification is one of the problems facing the education s e c t o r.  T h e is s u e s d i s c u s s e d i n t h i s p a p e r i n clu d e t eachers’ qualification and academic performance.  Teaching profession is not a dumping ground for all categories of job seekers and a stopover c a m p f o r t e a c h e r s s e e ki n g e m plo y m e n t t h a t i s m o r e lucrative.  T e a c h i n g i s n o t j u s t a m a t t e r o f t e a c h e r s t alki n g a n d s t u d e n t s li s t e n i n g.  E f f e c ti v e t e a c h i n g i n v olv e s i n t e r a c ti v e c o m m u n i c a ti o n patterns that are skillfully directed.  Since the quality of any worker i n a n o r g a n i z a ti o n is g e n e r ally m e a s u r e d t h r o u g h o b t a in e d c e r ti f i c a t e s a s e p i t o mi z e d b y o u t p u t.
