THE FIGHT AGAINST COVID-19 IN NIGERIA: ISSUES AND CHALLENGES

Abstract


The COVID-19 pandemic is a global health issue, though, Nigeria has its own experience offighting it. From Wuhan in China to the rest of the world, the Nigerian government was notexpediently proactive in preventing the scourge until it landed on its soil. This is the bane ofthe situation. This paper avails a secondary approach to collecting its data for this studywhile adopting qualitative/descriptive analysis to examine and analyse the chain of eventsduring the pandemic. As to the purpose of this study, this paper unravels a number of issuesand challenges confronted while arresting the spread of the virus. The position of this paper,therefore, is for the government, which is saddled with the responsibility to protect the livesand property of its citizenry, sheathe levity and partisanship while tackling an outbreak suchas this in the future.
