Sexuality in Islam

Abstract


Sexuality is defined as one’s sexualorientation, sexual activity and capacity forsexual feeling. Homosexuality andheterosexuality are examples of sexuality.Sexual right is a controversial term that hasbecome pervasive in the 21st centurydescription of human sexuality.1 In the lightof such pervasiveness, minorities sexualdiscussions predominates. Sexual minoritiesare people whose sexual desires or identitieschallenge the normative heterosexualstructures of society. They include Lesbians,Gay men, Bisexual people, Transgenderpeople and transvestites (LGBT), as well assex workers. This calls for the need torecognise the intersection of ethnicity,gender, age and culture in influencing thefluidity of sexual identities.
