Abstract
Health information management practicesinvolve the area of general administrativemanagement that is concerned with achievingeconomy and efficiency in the creation,maintenance, use, evaluation and disposition ofpatients’ health records, during their entire lifecycle. It is the application of the systematic andscientific control over recorded information that isrequired in the operations of healthcareorganization’s business. Such control is exercisedover the creation, distribution, utilization,retention, storage, retrieval, protection,preservation and final disposal of all types ofpatients’ health records/information within anorganization. The healthcare provider makes anentry into the medical records with the actualoccurrence of the event.
