A Critical Analysis of the Ethics of Teaching Profession
Abstract
Code of ethics is important for an occupation where the worker’sbehaviour or act of conducting the services must be guided by certainprinciples. As much as this concerns professionals in all fields, it isparticularly applicable to the teaching profession because of therole of education in societal formation. Teachers may have specialknowledge, skills, and academic and professional qualifications,but there are boundaries in the discharge of their professional duties.Like other professions such as medicine, law, and journalism, thereare sets of concepts and principles that guide the teaching professionto determine acceptable behaviour within the school setting. Theethical standards to meet that dignify the teaching profession arealso known as the code of ethics. Ethics is a branch of philosophyconcerned with moral principles of what is right and wrong (Sultana,2014).
