TRADITIONAL MUSIC AND GLOBAL IMPLICATIONS

Abstract


This paper discusses traditional music performance in Igbo culture, taking into cognizance the
attributes as well as the utilitarian commitments / values of the genre in the socio-cultural
disposition of the Igbo. It also looked at the impact of globalization on traditional music
performance, and viewed from different perspectives avenues open for its inter-cultural transfer;
with particular reference to human applications, technological advancements; and other related
or relevant mechanisms.
