CRYSTAL

Abstract

We sat by each other
in brooding silence.
He gave me a diamond,
I pushed him a laptop.
The cake arrived,
cut in a jiffy.
All cameras flashed and clicked,
as we danced, kissed, and posed.
I wore a designer gown.
My hands were manicured.
My hair-do took two hours,
so did my makeup artist.
He was late from office,
so hurried in his favorite suit.
We gave marriage advice.
And set couple goals.
Dinner time was announced.
A sumptuous buffet was served.
When the guests had departed,
we unpacked their gifts.
And when all were gone,
we retired to bed.
I turned to the side and slept.
He opened his laptop
to finish his pending work.
