Quality Assurance Issues in Work Integrated Learning Through Open and Distance Education in Nigeria
Abstract
The importance of Work integrated learning (WIL) cannot be over emphasized as it contributes to the National gross profit of a nation. It can reduce un-and underemployment, increase productivity, and improve standard of living, this type of learning presently gain popularity through Open and Distance Education. This form of education helps to assist in the delivery of education and training economically to a large number of people who are member of the workforce in industries. Monitoring and evaluation of any form of education is very important as quality assurance is the process for the systematic evaluation of the whole programme. The aim of this study is to examine the role of Open and Distance Learning (ODL) in WIL, Quality Assurance Issues in WIL through ODL, the mode of delivery of the distance learning program through a critique of literature. The review reveals the responsibilities of the educational institutions and that of the industry. Drawing on the insight, the study concludes that further research is needed to empirically diagnose assessment and communication components used in producing effective instruction support process
