Abstract

The Chinese teaching career in Africa has the characteristics of “late start, weak foundation and poor conditionsâ€. The systematic and large-scale Chinese language teaching in Nigeria started with the establishment of two Confucius Institutes. At present, the layout of Chinese teaching in the country is preliminary shaped, but the layout of Chinese teaching institutions is not extensive and balanced enough, and it faces many challenges: lacking of overall coordination and top-level design, the lower ability of running Chinese teaching in the host country, and “One Institute, Many Point†model exacerbates the shortage of teachers. In order to realize the sustainable development of the Chinese teaching in Nigeria, we should rely on the construction of the “Belt and Roadâ€, take advantage of Chinese language to pave the road and build a bridge for the “One Belt and One Road†in Nigeria. Shift the main role from “Pushing Country†to “Receiving Countryâ€.Stimulate the learner’s internal drive from the attached value of the language.
